Chateau Couhins-Lurton

The Lurton family are one of the great dynasties of Bordeaux and the André Lurton company was founded in 1953 when André inherited Château Bonnet. Moving into Graves in the mid-1960s, André saved the vineyard at the cru classé Château Couhins in 1970 entering a lease agreement for part of the vineyard before finally purchasing the estate and buildings in 1992. It became the flagship property of the company, known for producing one of the greatest white wines of Bordeaux. A complete renovation was carried out in 1998 with new cellars created and the first red wine made in 2002. The company is now run by André’s son Jacques.
