Champagne Philipponnat

Philipponnat is a historic Champagne house based in Mareuil-sur-Ay, with a legacy dating back to the early 16th century. They own and manage 20 hectares of vines, including the renowned 5.5-hectare Clos des Goisses purchased in 1935. Philipponnat is part of the Lanson BCC group, but the house is run by 15th generation Charles Philipponnat and his son Francois. Central to Philipponnat’s excellence is its meticulous selection of vineyards and the distinct terroirs they represent. The house focusses on Pinot Noir, with vineyards primarily located in the prestigious villages of Ay, Mareuil-sur-Ay, and Avenay Val d’Or. The house is particularly noted for its full-bodied, age-worthy Champagnes, with low dosage levels. Philipponnat focuses on sustainability and were one of the first producers in Champagne to achieve both HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) and VDC (Viticulture Durable en Champagne) certification, which are sustainability standards that recognise environmentally responsible viticulture.
