Chateau La Tour de By
The estate on which Chateau La Tour de By sits dates to 1599, when it was known as La Roque de By, making it one of the oldest properties in the Medoc. A large tower pre-dates the Chateau, which was constructed in 1876, with the modern history of the estate commencing in 1965 when the Pages family, along with the Lapalue and Cailloux families, purchased the property. In 1999, the Pages family became the sole owner. The large 74 hectare vineyard occupies a range of ridges overlooking the Gironde, planted to 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, with gravel-based soils and vines with an average 40 years of age.
