Amalia Cascina

Amalia Cascina was started in 2003 when the Ligurian Boffa family purchased an old farmhouse in Monforte d’Alba, originally with the intent of turning it into a cosy B&B. However, the hospitality project took quite a dramatic turn when they began to make wine from the adjoining half a dozen hectares of vineyards that came with the property. They were hooked: vines in the prestigious Bussia and Le Coste di Monforte crus were purchased and a new winery built. Paolo Boffa, son of Luigi Antonio and Maria Angela, took over running the winery in 2007. With no formal training, Paolo’s approach to winemaking is instinctive, which, with help from enologist Piero Ballario, has led him to create wines of great personality, charm and classic Monforte structure. Mainly old, large oak is used in maturation, with organic conversation of the vineyards initiated in 2019 and certified in 2022.
