Bodegas Xenysel

Owned by the Martinez Verdu family for five generations, Bodegas Xenysel owns 200 hectares of vineyards in the far north-east of Jumilla at around 800 metres altitude. The very dry sandy soil inhibits phylloxera and allows the vines to grow on their own roots. An ultra-modern winery was built in 2006, at which Jose Maria started to make and bottle wines under their own label. There are now eight different interpretations of Monastrell produced, with vineyards farmed organically and all wines 100% vegan. The unusual name is an amalgamation of parts of Martinez’ three daughter’s names Xenia, Nydia and Selene.
