Chateau Grand-Puy Ducasse

A 5th growth of some 30 hectares in size, Grand-Puy Ducasse was owned until 2004 by the debt ridden négocient firm of Cordier who sold it to Credit Agricole in 2004. Since then there has been a massive program of investment culminating in the new winery opening for the 2023 vintage. The vineyard is planted to 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. After a traditional fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in oak, 50% of which is new. Recent years have seen the wines here obtaining more depth and backbone, possibly as a result of much needed investment.
