Bodegas Eguren Ugarte

Now into their sixth generation, Bodegas Eguren Ugarte are a small family-run winery in Laguardia, Northern Spain, who own 150 hectares of vineyards in Rioja Alavesa. Situated between Labastida and Páganos, at an altitude of 600-700 meters above sea level and with an average age of 50 years, these vineyards provide the ideal climate for producing fully ripe grapes that retain their freshness and acidity. Sustainability is a priority, with companion species planting and use of natural pesticides reducing the requirement for chemical intervention in the vineyards, with additional flora and fauna introduced to improve biodiversity. In the cellar, the winemaking is sensitive and traditional, with over 2,000 meters dug underground dedicated to maturation.
