Domaine Jean Sipp

This historic family domaine is situated in the heart of Ribeauvillé in 15th century buildings and has been presided over by Jean-Jacques Sipp and his wife Martine since 1973, who are now also assisted by their son Jean-Guillaume. The domaine consists of 50 small plots in Ribeauvillé, Bergheim and St.-Hippolyte with a total area of 23 hectares and includes 2.5 hectares of the grand cru Kirchberg, along with 2,5 hectares of the cru Trotacker. A total of twenty different wines are produced from seven different varieties and farming follows organic principles. The winemaking is a blend of old and new, with hand harvesting and sorting tables, a long fermentation controlled at 20C in stainless steel tanks before the wine is transferred to old wooden tuns for lees ageing, with reserve wines bottled in late spring and the Grand Cru wines after 11 months in barrel.
